E-TZ 08
Justo Sevillano (pp. 160-161) annotated the following: "Siglo XVI, papel, 575 x 425 mm.; caja máx., 490 x 322; caja mín., 360 x 300; 126 ff., 12 pautados. Manuscrito con cubiertas de piel negra sobre tablas de madera. Faltan las 11 hojas primeras. Foliación original en el margen superior y moderna en el inferior. Las hojas 1v-2r, 126v en blanco. Escrito por el mismo amanuense hasta la hoja 124, siendo de mano posterior las hojas 124v-126r."
Sevillano used the modern foliation, with Arabic numerals, starting with fol. 1 (=old fol. xii). However, since the 16th-century inventory of Tarazona choirbooks lists each piece in the manuscripts —with attributions [often lost in the manuscripts themselves], title of work and old Roman foliation— we will include both the new and old foliations, so that the Roman folio numbers in the Tarazona inventory will match the Roman folios in our catalogue of the manuscripts.

Five works in E-TZ 08 have concordances with the rare printed book RISM 1554/13 [Secundus liber modulorum, quatuor, quinque et sex vocum, (quos vulgus motteta vocat) à quibusvis celeberrimis authoribus excerptus, et nunc primum in lucem aeditus. [Genève,] SB. Du Bosc & G. Guéroult, 1554. 5 (?) vol. in-8º obl., 62 p.] of which only the cantus part is extant in A-Wn; these five pieces are: Tulerunt Dominum meum by Jean Pierre, Miserere mei Domine by Cadeac, In Domino confido quomodo dicitis by Jacquet of Mantua, Caro mea vere est cibus by Le Bel, and Cor mundum crea in me Deus by Crecquillon. See RISM, Recueils imprimés, vol.1, p. 199, and Lincoln (1993), pp. 769, 173, 419, 167, 211, and 72. Most likely the copyist of E-TZ 08 had access to a complete set of this publication. Since the works by Jean Pierre and Le Bel are known only through the printed extant cantus, E-TZ 08 is the only source to transmit complete versions of these two motets.
