Paper / Parchment:
MS / Print:
Printed book standardized RISM title:
Missarum liber secundus
Provenance/Origins/Place of publication:
Date:
16/3 (1551/1552)
Comments:

Printed Sacred Music Database listed in the Lleida Museum only the Missarum liber primus by Morales printed in Rome by Valerio e Aloisio Dorico in 1544 (RISM M3580), but indicated that the exemplar was incomplete and of uncertain edition; see http://www.printed-sacred-music.org/manuscripts/00000000002283. The RISM website repeats the same, but also includes Jacques Moderne's edition of Morale's Missarum liber secundus printed in Lyon, 1551/52 (RISM M3583) and the Morales volume Mariae cantica vulgo magnificat: Psalmata octo tetraphona printed also by Jacques Moderne en Lyon en 1552 (RISM 1552/37). We need to confirm whether the Museum has two books of Morales's masses or just an uncertain edition of one of them.
