Biography:

Unknown composer, probably a misreading of an attribution. Two 16th-century inventories at Tarazona cathedral list a lost manuscript with its contents including an ascription of a Pange lingua to "Escort" (Inventory 1, 1570) or "Elcort" (Inventory 2, 1591); see documents 16/3 (1570-05-29) [11] (https://hispanicpolyphony.eu/node/31448) and16/4 (1591) [12] (https://hispanicpolyphony.eu/node/16499), respectively. Other pieces in that manuscript are attributed to: Domenico Lauro (Laurus), Montes, Cristóbal de Morales, Juan de Vargas (Bargas) and Pedro Yñiguez; the latter inventory indicates that more pieces by Joan Arnalte, Bricio, Crecquillon and Morales were added to the same manuscript.

Biography:

The known works by Francisco de la Huerta are found in "papeles sueltos" (particelle) and not in choibooks. He has been incorporated to this database, since he was an important chapelmaster in different cathedrals and at the Monastery of Santa Ana in Ávila; he obviously had direct contact with the books of polyphony and with the performance of that repertory in the institutions where he worked.

The main part of the extant compositions by Huerta are preserved in the Pamplona Cathedral and in the Monastery of Santa Ana in Ávila, but there are also pieces by him preserved in the cathedrals of Ávila, Astorga (León), the Collegiate Church of San Miguel de Alfaro (La Rioja), the Royal Collegiate of Roncesvalles (Navarre), and the Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial (Madrid).

Biography:

Two 16th-century inventories of polyphonic music at Tarazona cathedral attribute a Sanctus and a Credo ("Patrem omnipotentem") to "Logroño", an unknown composer with the name of a location; this name is probably the result of the scribe's misreading of an ascription or it indicates the origin of the composer. See links below to the two documents (inventories) and the three items (descriptions of the choirbooks) where Logroño's name appears.

In the first footnote of the article (p. 149), Justo Sevillano annotated the following: "H.
