According to Diccionario de la música Labor, p. 30, A singer named Francisco de Ajofrín was active in Toledo Cathedral in 1499. Perhaps this singer was the composer of the villancico Por serviros triste yo for three voices in the Cancionero Musical de Palacio (E-Mp II-1335).

According to Alfonso de Vicente (1989), p. 16, "Graciosa Almendoz [sic], cantora y arpista" (singer and harpist) was professed as a nun in the Monastery of Santa Ana de Ávila in 1665, and she died ca. 1718. In several documents about the Monastery consulted at the Archivo HIstórico Nacional de España in Madrid, her surname appears as "Almandox". The usual version of that surname ("Almandoz") has been adopted in this database.

At present, Cuzcurrita del Río Tirón is a location within the Autonomous Community of La Rioja, diocesis of Calahorra and La Calzada-Logroño.
